I have been in the music world since I was 13, with various experiences as a non-professional musician (acoustic and electric guitars, electric bass, sequencer, arranger and keyboards) in different situations: piano bar, dance evenings, amateur festivals, recitals and shows. I am an expert in musical forms and I love Italian and foreign folk music, blues, rock, fusion and progressive. Since 2011, I have been TJ at the Association "El Tango de mi Vida" in Termoli, of which I was one of the founding members together with my partner Lisa. My passion for tango took me to various Italian regions, both as a TJ and as a dancer, until 2019. In the same period, in addition to proposing my musical choices in Italian milongas, in 2014 I participated in the book/CD project Xena-Tango (by friend and journalist Giampiero Vigorito, with music by Bacalov and Roberta Alloisio) as the author of a story and in 2015 I contributed to the concert/theatre show “Viaggio nel Tango e nelle note di Astor Piazzolla”, creating the lyrics, acting and dancing with Lisa and the trio of musicians "El Viaje". Since 2023, after the stop due to the pandemic, I have resumed my activity as a TJ and tango dancer with renewed enthusiasm, also in other contexts, animating the milongas on tango cruises in the company of wonderful masters such as Mariana Montes and Pablo Garcia, and abroad, starting from wonderful Istanbul, with its historical milongas. This expansion of horizons was possible thanks to my passion for other musical styles that are reflected in my musical choices during the milongas. I often participate in courses, workshops and festivals to improve my personal style and keep my music fresh. I believe that tango is a living language, constantly evolving and belonging to everyone: everyone can participate but no one can appropriate it or limit or cage it. I am committed to quality events not aimed only at commercialization or fashion, but at spreading the culture of tango. I am a TJ, but also a dancer, and not infrequently, I prefer to "disappear" from the console to feel the atmosphere even more directly from the dance floor and adapt my selections even better to the needs of couples. This double role, which often sees me participate in fantastic marathons as a tango dancer, means that I am not so often free to put on music but, what can you do, passion is passion, I would never have been a TJ if I had not fallen in love with dancing first. The great advantage, however, is that before proposing a song, I have always had the opportunity to personally try it out by dancing, thus ensuring that my musical selections are not abstruse or self-celebratory, but are truly danceable, as well as pleasant to listen to. So, my goal is to make sure that those who attend the milongas leave happy, dancing or even just listening to great music. I think that the TJ is not the master of the milonga, but must be at the service of the people on the dance floor: their enjoyment and the passion that the music evokes are the only real priority. Sono nel mondo della musica da quando avevo 13 anni, con esperienze varie come musicista non professionista (chitarre acustiche ed elettriche, basso elettrico, sequencer, arranger e tastiere) in diverse situazioni: pianobar, serate da ballo, festival amatoriali, recital e spettacoli. Sono esperto delle forme musicali e amo la musica folk italiana e straniera, il blues, rock, fusion e progressive. Dal 2011, sono stato TJ presso l'Associazione “El Tango de mi Vida” di Termoli, di cui sono stato uno dei soci fondatori insieme alla mia compagna Lisa. La passione per il tango mi ha portato in diverse regioni italiane, sia come TJ, sia come ballerino, fino a tutto il 2019. Nello stesso periodo, oltre a proporre le mie scelte musicali nelle milonghe italiane, ho partecipato nel 2014 al progetto del libro/cd Xena-Tango (dell’amico e giornalista Giampiero Vigorito, con musiche di Bacalov e Roberta Alloisio) come autore di un racconto e ho contribuito nel 2015 al concerto/spettacolo teatrale “Viaggio nel Tango e nelle note di Astor Piazzolla”, realizzando i testi, recitando e ballando con Lisa ed il trio di musicisti "El Viaje". Dal 2023, dopo il fermo dovuto alla pandemia, ho ripreso con rinnovato entusiasmo l’attività di TJ e tanguero, anche in altri contesti, animando le milonghe in crociere tango in compagnia di maestri meravigliosi come Mariana Montes e Pablo Garcia, e all’estero, a partire dalla meravigliosa Istanbul, con le sue milonghe storiche. Questa espansione degli orizzonti è stata possibile grazie alla passione anche per altri stili musicali che si riflettono nelle mie scelte musicali durante le milonghe. Partecipo spesso a corsi, stage e festival per migliorare il mio stile personale e mantenere la freschezza della mia musica. Credo che il tango sia un linguaggio vivo, in continua evoluzione e che appartiene a tutti: tutti possono partecipare ma nessuno può appropriarsene né circoscriverlo o ingabbiarlo. Mi impegno per eventi di qualità non finalizzati alla sola commercializzazione o moda, ma alla diffusione della cultura del tango. Sono un TJ, ma anche un ballerino, e non di rado, preferisco “scomparire” dalla console per sentire ancora di più l'atmosfera direttamente dalla pista e adattare ancora meglio le mie selezioni alle esigenze delle coppie. Questo doppio ruolo, che mi vede spesso partecipare a fantastiche maratone come tanguero, fa sì che poi non sono così spesso libero per mettere musica però, cosa volete farci, la passione è passione, non avrei mai fatto il TJ se non mi fossi innamorato prima del ballo. Il grande vantaggio, tuttavia, è che prima di proporre un brano, ho sempre avuto modo di provarlo personalmente ballando, garantendo così che le mie selezioni musicali non siano astruse o autocelebrative, ma siano realmente ballabili, oltre che gradevoli all'ascolto. Il mio obiettivo è far sì che chi partecipa alle milonghe esca felice, ballando o anche solo ascoltando ottima musica. Penso che il TJ non sia il padrone della milonga, ma debba essere al servizio delle persone in pista: il loro divertimento e la passione che la musica evoca sono l’unica vera priorità.
